Surf City marathon recap

After 3 months training, I am so happy it’s over. It’s not easy trying to follow the plan, and still don’t wanna give up bike and swim. Lots of trainings were done in early mornings before dropping kids to school. Anyway, it’s over

It was my 2nd time running this race. Usually I try not to do the same race, but I didn’t do well last year so it’s my revenge.

Because I got a better result in LA last year, that gave me some confidence for my running. I decided to train more than how I prepared for LA Marathon. Although they are different, my training course is always the same anyway. I followed a training plan online and tried my best to run 6 days a week even though sometimes not able to follow exactly due to daily schedules. At least I ran in it’s range every week.

It was almost perfect since I didn’t get sick during the 3 months training. Unfortunately, I still got sick in the race week. Luckily I only had some minor symptoms that didn’t affect my performance. So no excuses, I did my best. Nothing really bothered me during the race, only tiredness and questioning myself why I did this .

Race day

The weather was pretty good. I can say it was perfect. Little bit rain in the beginning, but it wasn’t that bad. I left home around 4:50 am and parked in entrance on Newland because I saw lots of cars waiting to get in to the entrance on Beach Blvd. I was surprised it was free tho. And I think the benefit parking there is I can do some warmup running to the start line. I feel not so many people do marathon this year and they only have music for American anthem.

Finish line

It was so hard to cross it cuz I felt why it wasn’t there yet I was able to speed up to cross the finish line. I was so tired and go straight to my car and drove home to have nice meal I did wish I could meet more friends and drink

Anyway, I finished my first race of 2023 and did my revenge. Time to go back to train my 70.3 in May. See you at Utah

I was trying to sleep early last night and my kids made lots of noises on purpose. One was practicing Violin next to me and the other one just kept bothering me next to me as well. I thought that was funny.
