Bike Power Meter

What is power meter? Power meter is a meter to measure the power generated from you. I’m not a professional writer to write all the detail. I’m writing because I believe there are some people who are like me have question when they start thinking to buy one.

There are 3 types for power meter. Crank-based, hub-based, and pedal-based. The pedal one seems it’s easiest one because you just need to replace your pedals. I don’t know which one is more accurate tho. For me, I didn’t consider hub-based because it seems harder to install. If you are using other kinds of pedal like Speedplay, you might need to consider crank-based. There are couple popular crank-based such as stage, pioneer, and 4iiii, etc. I tried to save my money and I was sure if it was worthy to invest this, so I decided to go with left arm only. I purchased the pioneer left arm, unfortunately, my BMC TM02 rear direct brake does have enough clearance, I ended up installing on my other bike. So far so good for everything like connect to my Garmin 520.

Here is another thing you might need to consider before you order it which is crank arm length, there are 165, 170, 172.5 and 175cm. Based on my bikes, my road bike is 172.5 and TT is 170 so I will keep this setup. One more thing mention, mine is 105, but I purchased Ultegra arm and it fits. I think the only difference is the weight and as long as the arm length is the same , it should be fit. You only need to worry the size of bottom bracket.
